A Preliminary Overview of New Medical Centre’s Design

We are very excited to share with you a new initiative to significantly enhance the service we provide to our Patients. Working together, The Simpson Centre and Millbarn Medical Centre intend to create a unique and innovative building to deliver state-of-the-art care to our patients and to invite in services that we have not been able to provide locally, like community nurses, social care and mental health practitioners.

The Simpson Centre and Millbarn Medical Centre are planning to move into a brand new, purpose-built Medical Centre, built on an ideal site off Walkwood Rise and adjacent to the A40 in Beaconsfield. The site is on the main bus route supporting car-free access for thousands of patients. It’s within walking distance of patients living in Wattleton Park and Holtspur. The building will have parking space (with electric vehicle charging) for 100+ vehicles for those patients who do not live within walking (or biking) distance and choose not to use public transport.

The new Medical Centre is planned to support a population of 25,000 registered patients. This is an increase of 6,000 over the current combined patient base of both practices. The new Centre will be a state-of-the-art modern building, with spacious and well equipped clinical and administrative space designed to deliver medical services well into the 2040s.

The Centre, with a provisional opening date of autumn 2020, will replace the buildings currently used by the Simpson Centre and Millbarn practices. The building presently housing the Simpson Centre practice is well past its best and incurs considerable additional maintenance cost. Clinical space in the building is no longer appropriate for today’s medicine, and it is critically short of space to support staff and patient parking. Millbarn is moving for similar reasons, as well as the fact that the car park has been reduced in size due to development and the generally poor condition of the building.

The new Beaconsfield Medical Centre will provide Beaconsfield residents with first-class modern facilities of a standard far exceeding those which we have been used to up to now. Additional clinical space will be provided to support further services which the Practices cannot currently offer. There will be an on-site Pharmacy where you can have prescriptions filled immediately.
