Flu Clinic - Saturday 1st October Posted on 7 Sep 2016

This year we are running our annual adult ‘flu clinic, on Saturday 1st October 2016

All patients eligible for a free flu jab will receive a letter by post inviting them to have the vaccine to avoid this potentially serious illness.  Patients are invited for the vaccine due to their age, medical condition or occupation.  The vaccine is free of charge to all patients in these categories.  One dose is sufficient to protect you from ‘flu.  You cannot get ‘flu from the vaccine but some mild reactions can last for 48 hours.

ELIGIBLE PATIENTS DO NOT NEED AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE FLU CLINIC ON SATURDAY 1ST OCTOBER SO THERE IS NO NEED TO PHONE US.

This year we are inviting eligible groups of patients to attend at half hourly intervals according to surname, as follows:

PATIENTS SHOULD BRING THEIR INVITATION LETTER WITH THEM WHEN THEY COME FOR THEIR FLU JAB

For housebound patients (i.e. those who never go out) we can make arrangements for them to have the injection at home.

Our car park is likely to be extremely congested and it would be helpful, if at all possible, for patients to park on the street on the day of the flu clinic.

For those eligible patients unable to attend, there will be some clinics later in October/November during the normal working week. Please do not call the surgery about this until Wednesday 5th October.

VACCINES FOR THOSE UNDER 18 YEARS OF AGE

This year all those under the age of 18 years old, who are eligible, will receive their vaccination via a nasal spray device given into both nostrils.  We hope that this will encourage those with younger children to attend for vaccination as strongly recommended by the GPs.

All patients under 18 years of age wo are eligible for a free flu jab will receive a letter by post inviting them to have the vaccine to avoid this potentially serious illness. For the majority, only one dose is needed to give sufficient protection from ‘flu.  You cannot get ‘flu from this vaccine but some mild reactions can last for 48hrs.

We DO NOT recommend giving a ‘flu vaccination to anyone who has experienced a high temperature within the 48hrs prior to their appointment.

Clinics will be running for the following patients: All children aged 2-4 years old and any patients aged 5-17 years old in clinical risk groups.

On the following days, by appointment:

Friday 7th October and Friday 21st October between 9.00am-12.00 noon and 2.00-4.30pm

Please call the surgery on 01494 675303 to make an appointment for those under 18 years of age only.
